Study of competencies' Iran sport coaching

Abstract

Objective: In sport environment, coach have a central facet, and responsible for providing opportunities for inhancement athletes abilities and skills in varity of technical, physical and ethical areas. However. There is no consensus about sport coaching nature and themes. Aim this study was identification of sport ciach themes use phenomenological approach.
Method: Participants were 20 coaches and athletes whom had specific criteria and selected porpuseful for deep interviews. Data analysed with theme analysis method.
Results: Thematic analysis revealed 3 global themes of intrapersonal, interpersonal, and contextual; 12 organizer themes and 41 basic themes. Intrapersonal themes contained knowledge (theoric, practical, transfer knowledge), characteristics (personal, psychic, social), philosophy (love to coaching, artistic thinking, core believes and values), and interest to grow and excellence (continues learning, apprentice, moral of research). Intrapersonal themes contained social relations (with athletes, associates, media, stockholders), coaching skills (technical-instructional, humanistic-comunicational, perceptual-leadership), management (planning, staffing, organizing, direction, evaluation) and coaching behavior (directional-social, supportive-cultural, specific behavior). Contextual themes contained practice situation (instruction of technich, tactic, promot of fitness), play role (teacher, specialism, moodel), contextual situations (players, pupose of sport, sport environment), and match situation (logestic readiness for match, strategy, tactic, winning).
Conclusion: In general, it can be acknowledged, beside of components which relate to personal coach, they have variety of roles, tasks and functionals, therefore needs as a orchestration, use from their knowledge and art in order for contextualizing essential components for each specific situation.
